I Sverige undervisas ungefär 100 barn i hemmet.

Parets tre andra barn går i skolan. I fyran gick sonen i skola.

Tack i förhand,

MVH

Kunstig

Families destroyed, all in the name of protecting the children
My heart goes out to all of these families battling for the right to raise and educate their own children, our family is facing the same battle. Personally I think that most public/state schools are not unlike prison, in that never will you find yourself in such an unnatural situation, or a situation so completely different from how the world operates and functions, forced to deal with clichés, peer pressure concerning things they would never encounter at home, not to mention bullies.

And really the bottom line is that the State does not own our children, and frankly it makes me furious to see how they continue to destroy families all in the name of protecting the children, when in reality their only concern is conformity.

So we must continue to stand strong for truth and justice.

Home Schooling is an Excellent Choice Today
At one point it was difficult for parents to home school, because there simply were not a lot of materials available to teach all of the subject areas. Today home schoolers are a big market for textbook companies and there is constant innovation. For example, in math there is Math-U-See, Saxon, Singapore, and Teaching Textbooks math curriculum that are created for home schoolers. All of the programs teach through calculus.

I know of home school parents that are able to learn with their children or not really understand a subject very well, at all, because the teaching programs are so good.

Today, there are also many independent companies that home school parents hire to ensure that they are covering all of the important topics.

hemundervisning
It's tragic when so-called authorities can't quite manage to keep themselves updated:

It's ludicrous when such ignorance forces ordinary people (hs parents) into a martyr role.

Unfortunately, neither situation is uncommon.

I add my support to the parents
I home educate in The Netherlands. There are many reasons we home educate. I am totally convinced that parents can in most cases educate their children to a better standard than most schools with increasing class sizes. Teachers I know, and I know quite a few, agree.
The socialisation arguments fall down straight away as soon as thought through. Children learn survival tactics in school not the kind of social behaviour required in the real world. So long as parents can demonstrate their children have means of integrating into society through the activities of going shopping, sports, any of the outside school activities which we all do then there's every chance the child will be better integrated than children locked in school all day.
Good luck and well done for fighting for your rights.

Who owns the children?
God has entrusted parents with them. For example the psalmist says "Sons are indeed a heritage from the LORD, children a reward." Who is responsible to educate them? Moses says to fathers that they are to repeat God's instructions to their children "when you sit in your house and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up." God gives the authority to teach children to parents.

Think someone erased my comment!
I made a point that governments that enforce parents to send their kids to public school, want to mold the kids into drones, that will not stand-up to government in the future. There's no room for independent thought. Is this also a country where you have to seek government approval before you choose a baby's name? Or is that Norway?

These decisions are best left to be made in the hearts of a loving, capable mother and father. Their son is at or above where he needs to be socially and academically. And he is happy. End of story.

Intressant...

Keep on Home-schooling
Are children property of the State in Sweden? To bad, I once had the idea Sweden was a free country. Now it sounds more like the old Soviet Union.

Sweden is on a dangerous path
I teach my children at home in America. It is a choice that fits our family's beliefs & lifestyle (my husband is a minister). Our children are excellent students and are involved in sports, music, art, community service, and socializing with their many friends. The arguments against homeschooling no longer hold water as statistics continually prove that homeschooled children consistently outperform their public school peers academically and socially! Universities in the U.S. seek out homeschooled students for their excellent test scores, superior work ethic & attitudes, & high personal character. By criminalizing home education, Sweden and countries like it are not only practicing open discrimination, but are sabotaging their futures by opressing a generation of potentially great leaders.

Homeschooling family in USA supports homeschoolers everywhere
We home school our children so we can tailor the curriculum for each child to ensure that they are learning, and so that we can raise them not just be educated, but also to be morally responsible adults.

There are no special talents needed to teach your own kids, apart from loving them and putting in the necessary effort to teach them. If you do not want to put in the effort, then by all means, please send them to a public or private school.

Socialization is not having your kids spending 8 hours a day with kids exactly the same age. Socialization is having your kids being able to interact with kids their own age, younger, older, and with adults. Ours are very good at this.

School should not just be a place to go 5 days a week, it should be a state of mind throughout your life.

Unbelievable!
It's hard for me to believe that a supposedly free society in the 21st century could still deny parents the right to direct the upbringing of their own children, especially when it comes to something as fundamental as education. Who besides Mrs. Angerstig cares more for her children or is more concerned about their developmental progress or educational success? Surely no one, and certainly not the nanny state, could provide her children with the intense, personally tailored education that she has prepared. Sweden needs to rethink its oppressive policies.

Homeschoolers in South Africa support Swedish parents
During the period of apartheid, home education was illegal in South Africa. Homeschooling parents were jailed by the government.

However a few years later the Nelson Mandela government legalized home education in South Africa with the publication of the South African School Act in 1996. Since it was legalised, homeschooling has grown exponentially in South Africa.

The Association for Homeschooling in South Africa is dissapointed that the Swedish government treats homeschooling parents the same as the apartheid government did by fining them into poverty.

The letters of the Association to the Swedish parliament and the Swedish embassy can be read at www.tuisskolers.org

Homeschooling works!
My great-grandparents came from Sweden and I have always thought of Sweden as a modern, free-thinking, progressive nation. Now I'm not so sure. Homeschooling has a remarkable track record all over the world for producing graduates who have all the skills they need to be productive, law-abiding citizens. Why would the Swedish government not allow something that works so well? Germany under Hitler was famous for taking control of education away from the parents. Is that how the Swedish government wants to be known, as an oppressive dictatorship? Unbelievable.

Don't Give Up!
Don't give up the fight... and your RIGHT.... to homeschool your children! I am shocked that Sweden would deny parents the right to educate their own children. Clearly Sweden's officials need to do a little investigating on the benefits of homeschooling. Top colleges all over the world are recruiting them because they are more motivated, self directed, and continue to score above and beyond their "schooled" peers. You have our support! Don't hand your parental rights over to your government!
Roo Smith, 24 feb 2011 kl 15:35
Homeschooling makes good citizens
I hope the Swedish government and people can recognize the value of homeschooling and grant the freedom for parents to raise their own children. This should be the inalienable right of all peoples.

Fathers teaching children historically has created a citizenry that is respectful, responsible, active and engaged.

Humanity should not divorce historical context from any situation. Weakening family links will undoubtedly weaken the Swedish nation.
Rebecca Kunst, 24 feb 2011 kl 15:27
Why do you care?
My Grandparents are both from Sweden, and I know they loved it there, but they also love freedom! Why would the government care if families love their children enough to home school them...there are MANY other things they should be concerned with! Leave this family alone, they have the right to teach their children in the way they want to!
